The Clarke Family 2025
In July 2025, our family spent a few weeks volunteering at KYGN, helping in the classrooms.
My wife and I are qualified teachers, so we supported the secondary school both as teaching assistants and by covering classes when teachers were absent. We taught English and Science.
Our daughters, aged 15 and 17, worked in the nursery school as classroom assistants. They also helped at break and lunchtime, serving porridge to the children.
On our final day, we ran the school sports day, an unforgettable experience.
Our time at KYGN was one of the most amazing experiences of our lives. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms by the teachers and staff, and we instantly felt at home. The students were wonderful, polite, hardworking, and full of joy. Teaching them was an absolute pleasure.
Anna and her team have created something truly special at KYGN. I would recommend anyone considering volunteering to pay them a visit. It is a life-changing experience, and we hope to be back very soon.
