How You Can Help
MAKE A DONATION
Currently
the best way to make a donation to KYGN is to log into Paypal and make a payment into our
account michsimmons2003@yahoo.co.uk
Please
indicate that it is a personal gift and if you would like to
spend it in any one area
in particular let us know at the time of donation.
The
demand for places at KYGN is consistently high
and in order to continue to support children in the Mabogini area, KYGN
urgently needs to raise funds, which are required for both the
day-to-day
running costs of the centre and capital expenditure.
KYGN
relies on donations and locally available
grants. Every penny you can spare will be spent on continuing the work
we are
already doing or investing in our future. Even seemingly small
donations make a
difference to these girls’ lives. For example food for the whole
nursery school
costs around just US$1 a day and their uniforms just US$5 each.

We have a good supply of
storybooks in English, but
it would be great to have some more in Swahili. Colourful and
attractive
teaching resources are in short supply and educational toys and aids
are very
difficult to find here. If you have anything you think would be
useful
to us that you would like to donate, please contact us. Unfortunately
Tanzanian
postage is extremely unreliable but when possible we will ask arriving
volunteers to bring items with them.
We know that international bank
transfers are a
costly way of sending money, especially small amounts and we are
working on
opening charity bank accounts in the UK and the US. In the meantime the
cheapest way you can donate money is into our Paypal account, as
detailed above.

SAGE – SPONSOR A GIRL’S EDUCATION
The
SAGE program gives supporters an opportunity to sponsor the education
of a
primary or secondary school child for a year at a time. Although
primary
education is free in Tanzania, related school costs make it difficult
for many
students to afford school.
Sponsoring
the education of a primary school student for an entire year costs
approximately US$50 and $300 covers the annual costs for a secondary
school student. This money pays for academic instruction, uniforms,
school supplies, a
daily lunch, and miscellaneous school fees including fees for desks,
buildings
and watchmen.
Currently
KYGN sponsors 74 primary school girls. You can view recent photos of
them here.
To
sponsor a child or for more information on SAGE, please email
sagekygn@gmail.com
FUNDRAISING
From
participating in a sponsored climb of Kilimanjaro or the annual
International
Kilimanjaro Marathon, to organizing pub quizzes, coffee mornings and
comedy
nights back at home, there is something everyone can do to help raise
money for
KYGN. Our Facebook Groups are a good place to advertise
fundraisers and get in touch with past volunteers and KYGN supporters
in your
local area. If you are interested in participating in a sponsored
Kilimanjaro
climb for KYGN please contact us for more information.
VOLUNTEERING
KYGN always
needs help. Whatever skills and experience you have, your time and
energy would
be invaluable to us. Volunteers help with every aspect of KYGN, from
teaching
and assisting in the nursery classes to administration and site
maintenance.
Volunteering is free, you simply have to pay for your visa,
accommodation and
transportation. If you would like to join us in Moshi, please contact
us for
further information.
VOLUNTEER
FEEDBACK
“I helped
volunteer with the younger children for the past two weeks. It was
challenging
handling 40 plus kids, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, they
are a
great bunch, it was a pleasure!” Hazel Anson, England
“I
volunteered at KYGN
Centre for two weeks and found it to be an immensely rewarding
experience. I
taught Mathematics to girls that were always willing to learn and a
pleasure to
teach. I would recommend KYGN to anyone thinking of volunteering with
kids. At
the end of the two weeks I felt sad to be leaving, but very fulfilled
at having
helped the children to develop themselves.” Geoff Campbell, England
